In 2014, I walked away from a Head of Digital role, disillusioned with the direction the SEO industry was heading. It was 18 months after Penguin, yet SEO was still being treated as a manipulative, spam-driven channel that had no place at the CMO’s table.
That frustration pushed me to rethink how SEO should be done. So I built Digitaloft.
The agency was founded on the principle that success comes from delivering exceptional results for clients, not from following industry norms or chasing quick wins. Back then, the SEO agency landscape was chaotic. Spammy tactics were everywhere, but I knew there was a better, more sustainable way to grow brands.
From day one, we focused on combining deep SEO expertise with creative digital PR, helping clients drive meaningful, long-term growth through strategic, quality-led work. I wanted Digitaloft to stand out not just for the results we achieved, but for how we achieved them: with integrity, innovation and a commitment to doing things properly.
Long before digital PR became what it is today, we were already doing it. In 2015, we started earning high-quality editorial links through creative content campaigns, setting ourselves apart from most other SEO agencies of the time.
And to this day, I genuinely believe Digitaloft remains one of the few agencies that is as strong at digital PR as it is at SEO. Our ability to integrate and understanding of how search engines work, and what they reward, with creative execution has been a major driver of our success.
Today, that foundation is brought together through our focus on getting our clients found in buying searches; a way of working that aligns technical SEO, content and digital PR around increasing visibility in the searches that make them money.
Our industry has spent too long celebrating traffic and links over real business impact, and we’ve set out to change that. We believe that the only true measure of SEO success is revenue.
Over the last ten years, our work has been recognised with more than 50 industry awards, including accolades at the UK Search Awards, Global Search Awards and The Drum Awards. Awards have never been the goal, but they remain a testament to the hard work, creativity and talent of our team.
