My Work Experience at Digitaloft

Hi, my name’s Daisy. I’ve spent the last four days at the Digitaloft office in Kendal, where I’ve been completing my year 12-13 work experience. 

Since I was little, I’ve been fascinated with film, media, and technology, and I dreamt of working in the film industry. Initially, I wanted to pursue a career in acting (no thank you!), but now I’m more interested in being part of a BTS production team.

Digitaloft welcomed me into the team for my work experience at the end of August. Over my week in the office, I learned about the various functions that make up the company, including Digital PR, SEO, Design, Business Development, Marketing, and Social Media. These were all incredibly new to me, but I’m leaving with the confidence that I could explain the basics of each department to someone who’s never heard of them before.

The idea of being in the office initially felt intimidating to me, but after a warm welcome and introduction from the team, I immediately felt at ease. 

My days were typically scheduled around video calls with team members who educated me on various areas within the company and then set me tasks to develop my understanding. I loved the tasks because they made me feel like I was part of the team, rather than just completing simple knowledge recall. It made the experience of working in the office feel much more authentic too!

I learned so many different things over the week, and being at Digitaloft provided me with the opportunity to truly consider a career pathway in the media. 

My favourite experience was my day with the social team. As a creative person who’s always coming up with new ideas and concepts, I felt this part of my work experience allowed me to showcase my imagination and put my skills to use!

One aspect of the agency that surprised me was how much work goes into SEO. I’d never considered just how many elements are involved in making a website more visible on search engines, so that really impressed me.

In conclusion, I couldn’t think of a better place to have completed my work experience, and I’m so grateful to the team for taking me on. Hopefully, more people will consider Digitaloft for their work experience in future years!
